My name is Emily Wu. I am a software engineer who is based in Queens, NY. I wasn't born to be a software engineer, but I was born to be an explorer.

I've worked and travelled around the world, I was once a barista in Singapore, a publishing assistant in the U.S., an acquisition editor in China, and a product manager in Taiwan.

The decision to become a software engineer come to me because I long to be more involved in building the amazing product and taking the users' actual need and experience in mind.

I am currently working at a financial service company specializes in mortgage servicing, and we are transforming to a cloud base SaaS company.

I have experience with AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure. I use Typescript, Javascript, React & Redux for the frontend, node.js, Java and Ruby on Rails for the backend, and SQL, MongoDB for database management. I have hands-on experience with debugging errors (sometimes creating them :)) and monitoring production site performance, and working as a team to develop new feature and planning.

Global Warming on Food Supply

A data visualization project that used Vanilla Javascript.

I like to tackle questions without set-in-stone answers. One day I learned that global warming may not necessarily be bad for certain areas in terms of food supply, and wanted to know more.

Checkout with me on how global warming will affect food supply for us in the next 60 years.

3 Years at Aspen Capital

I was a fullstack software engineer at Aspen Capital, a mortgage servicing company, and I was part of the team to build out some greenfield projects like the Borrower Portal, and the Admin Portal.

Some of the highligts of my achievements:

  • Led a team of front-end developers in designing and implementing a greenfield project focused on automating payoff quote generation based on user input, resulting in 66% reduction in administrative workload.
  • Integrated Azure AD SAML identity provider with AWS Cognito to achieve SSO with Oauth2 that allows internal users to log in the AWS cloud-based web tool with their corporate Microsoft emails.
  • Designed "Add a Note" feature for a new loan management system, leveraging AWS Lambda, SQS, and DynamoDB stream to synchronize notes between cloud and on-prem databases, driving a 46% surge in system utilization via improved communication and record-keeping.
  • Developed a RESTful API endpoint that integrated with Plaid to retrieve banks’ data and autofill institution name with provided routing number on “Add a Bank” form, elevating user experience and speed to add a bank account for payment.
